Overview
Africa is facing growing challenges in securing the finance needed for development. Traditional sources of funding are shrinking, while global political shifts are changing where and how investment flows.
This seminar launches the updated Financial Flows report from the Institute for Security Studies’ (ISS) African Futures and Innovation programme. It examines projected investment trends and highlights key policy actions that could help strengthen Africa’s position.
With a focus on foreign direct investment as a vital part of development finance, the session uses South Africa as a case study. It explores why some long-standing investors are reducing their involvement, looks at new and emerging partners and outlines practical policy steps to attract investment that supports long-term development.
