Global events, including the Ukraine war, are widening the gap between Africa’s development path and the rest of the world.

Overview

Using the Institute for Security Studies’ (ISS) African Futures platform, this conference will consider:

  • Africa’s current development trajectory and key indicators of progress in a business as usual forecast to 2043.
  • Africa’s development potential under the African Union’s (AU) Agenda 2063 that combines the impact of various sectoral scenarios in an ideal, Sustainable World, future.
  • The impact of global developments on the future of Africa in four scenarios: a Sustainable World, a Divided World, a World at War and a Growth World. 

This event is co-hosted by the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) South Africa, and AUDA-NEPAD.
