Overview
African nations are challenged by the inability to maintain long-term economic growth, which has exacerbated the development disparity between Africa and the rest of the world. A significant focus was placed on the continent's vulnerability to external economic shocks.
Kouassi participated as a panelist in an expert dialogue titled "Economic Transformation in Africa," organized by the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) in collaboration with the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences and Future Africa, on 20 May 2024.
This summit served as a forum for attendees to deliberate on the revelations of the ACET’s 2023 African Transformation Index ( (ATI). It aimed to identify actionable policy pathways inspired by the ATI’s recommendations and to establish a roadmap for ensuring the index continues to significantly influence Africa’s economic development strategy. Discussions revolved around formulating strategies to bolster Africa's economic resilience, ensuring its capacity to withstand external disturbances, and averting regressions in growth and economic transformation.
