Overview
By 2050, one in four people on the planet will live in Africa, underlining the need for a unified approach to the continent’s future among its countries and the international community. Africa’s development prospects have improved, but its trajectory remains uncertain in the face of global divisions, ongoing violent conflicts, threats to democracy and the severe impact of climatic shocks.
Join our online Africa Futures Summit on how to catalyse Africa’s potential for the benefit of the continent and the global system. Led by the Institute for Security Studies’ African Futures forecasting team, perspectives from Africa and from policymakers on concrete pathways will be discussed over five sessions:
- The future of Africa in a changing global context
- Forging multilateral and collective security partnerships of the future
- Africa’s climate and energy futures: opportunities and challenges
- Crossing Africa’s debt impasse: unlocking development potential
- Democratic governance in Africa: securing sustainable, democratic transitions
