Overview
Climate change threatens not just the environment but the ability of individuals, societies, governments and economies to function and prosper. As such, it is a human security threat that rivals armed conflict and terrorism in its potential destruction of lives, property and stability.
This workshop recasts climate change within the human security context. It will explore the security implications and potential risks to Africa’s development trajectory. The event will launch a new ISS report on building Africa’s agency for COP27 and beyond.
This workshop is co-hosted by the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), the Africa Climate Foundation and the Climate Emergency Collaboration Group.
